Philadelphia 76ers

Much like the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Philadelphia 76ers were a team in desperate need of bench help all season long. At 31.4 points per game, their bench ranked at 26th in the NBA this season, a significant factor in the team’s scattered success, particularly when Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons missed time.

When the season suspended play, the 76ers dropped to the 6-seed and the Eastern Conference and appeared to be a disappointment after their season originally started so promising. Signing Jamal Crawford would not instantly turn their franchise around and make them the premier team to beat in the Conference, but it would be a good start to get the ball rolling.

Philadelphia’s primary bench guards are Raul Neto, Alec Burks, and Shake Milton, all having lacked the type of veteran leadership that comes with a player like Crawford. The 76ers could use his offensive capabilities and his veteran experience to uplift that bottom-five bench scoring total, and potentially try to elevate the team overall.

With Crawford being such a threat on the offensive end, his play opens up more opportunities for Embiid and Simmons to succeed, and the move makes sense for the 76ers in its entirety. The 40-year-old would be another offensive option the team could use and improve their bench play significantly.

For a Philadelphia team in need of a move to bring in some offensive support, Jamal Crawford is a perfect low-cost option for the remainder of the season. With that, they should look to sign the 40-year-old in an effort to spark their lacking second unit.
