Oklahoma City Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder have one of the league’s most intriguing guard trios in the league with Chris Paul, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Dennis Schroder, but adding Jamal Crawford to the mix would not be a bad idea in order to bolster their guard rotation.

Led by this trio, the Thunder’s season halted with them placed in as the 5-seed, but their bench presented some problems throughout the season. Schroeder was indeed involved in the mix for Sixth Man of the Year, but aside from him, issues were fully showcased, particularly in scoring.

The Thunder averaged 39.4 bench points per game this season, ranked ninth in the entire league. With Schroder responsible for a majority of that scoring, having totaled 19.0 points per game this season, the Oklahoma City bench could use some severe help.

Signing Crawford would give the team another dynamic ball-handler that could help provide some offensive firepower off the bench, and significantly raise their struggling second unit. Aside from Schroder, Luguentz Dort, and Hamidou Diallo are the team’s other primary guard reserves, both lacking experience that the 40-year-old Crawford could provide.

For an Oklahoma City Thunder team that could potentially make some noise in this year’s postseason, signing Jamal Crawford is a low-risk, high-reward scenario. For his veteran presence and lethal offense, the Thunder should look at signing Crawford.
