In the history of the NBA, only two players have ever won the MVP award three times in a row, those being Bill Russell and Larry Bird, both of the Boston Celtics. At the moment, it appears that Giannis Antetokounmpo could undoubtedly join them soon enough.

The 25-year-old only has one award under his belt officially, but with his second all but certain coming once this season has concluded, he appears to already be the favorite for next season. Antetokounmpo led the Milwaukee Bucks to the best record in the league for a second straight season and topped his first MVP award-winning season from the year before.

Giannis averaged new career-bests in points with 29.6, and rebounds in 11.5 per game, all while having averaged 30.9 minutes per game, the lowest since his rookie season in 2013-14. Antetokounmpo has improved drastically every single year of his career and has shown no signs of slowing down.

Unlike his counterparts, such as LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard, who have Anthony Davis and Paul George paired beside them, Antetokounmpo does not have the most star-studded partner in Khris Middleton. The forward is a two-time All-Star and fantastic player, but nowhere near the top-five status as Davis or former MVP finalist in George, which gives Antetokounmpo the advantage over other stars for awards such as this one.

At just 25-years-old and a likely two-time MVP winner, Giannis Antetokounmpo is undoubtedly the way too early to tell favorite for next season.
