NBA: 3 teams that should pursue a trade for Victor Oladipo
By Dalton Sell
Orlando Magic
For years now, the Orlando Magic have been a borderline playoff team without a solidified star, but a reunion with Victor Oladipo could change that in an instant. Oladipo played his first three NBA seasons with the Magic and could be the guy they have searched for the past several years.
The team made the postseason last year and finished as the 8th seed when the season halted this year. With several good players on their roster, none have asserted themselves as the team’s “go-to guy.”
Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon are the two contenders for the spot, but neither has played at such a high level to elevate the Magic to a level past borderline playoff team. Oladipo has the capabilities to do that, and with such pieces around him, such as these two and ascending players like Markelle Fultz and Jonathan Issac, Orlando would undoubtedly be a much-improved team.
With Terrence Ross and Evan Fournier having split minutes at the shooting guard position this past season, Oladipo would serve as an immediate upgrade and immediate fit with this young group of players.
Right now, the Orlando Magic are a player or two away from taking that next step when it comes to contention, and trading for a guy like Oladipo could do just that. The All-Star guard played 224 games for the team his first three seasons in the league and averaged 15.9 points per game before being traded.
