Redrafting the 2015 NBA Draft: Role players everywhere

#8 Pick: Justise Winslow (Originally: Stanley Johnson)

I cannot separate myself from this pick but I still think it is right. I remember exactly where I was when Justise Winslow was sliding and the Pistons were on the clock. Winslow was my favorite prospect in the Pistons draft range at the time and I thought he had the ceiling as an All-Star. Not all of what I just said has panned out but I still think this is the right call for the Detroit Pistons.

Winslow has been a good player in Miami and is going to get a fresh start in Memphis whenever the league resumes. He has shown the ability to play four positions so the versatility is a huge plus. His shooting is still a suspect but he did shoot 37.5 percent from three on nearly four attempts per game in Miami last season.

There is a reason Michael Jordan reportedly was offered four first-round picks to move up to ninth in this draft and I assure you it was not for the man they selected next. Justice Winslow’s potential is still sky-high. If he can stay healthy he will shine in Memphis. If only we had gotten to see him try to do so in Detroit.
