Redrafting the 2015 NBA Draft: Role players everywhere
By Corey Rausch
#30 Pick: Kevin Looney (Originally: Kevon Looney)
We have touched on Kevon Looney sporadically but honestly, this pick is not even about the numbers that he has put up. He clearly fits the culture in Golden State very well and while there may be more interesting chances to take still available on the board, you cannot argue with the results. They won a title with Looney and he played a major role for the team. Taking a project here could shake that and to me is just not worthwhile.
And that wraps up this redraft. For once there are still plenty of prospects available that have an argument as a first-rounder. Pat Connaughton stays underrated and is a solid player off the bench. Emmannuel Mudiay and Cameron Payne were lottery picks who have slid all the way to the second round. Jarell Martin, Jerian Grant, Alfonzo McKinnie and Sam Dekker are all still worth a look in the early second round.
This draft will be looked back on as the draft that brought us Towns, Booker, Russell and Porzingis but the number of role players available in this draft is what is truly staggering. It will never go down as loaded and star-studded but it will undoubtedly have a long-standing influence on the contenders being built in the league going forward.
