Redrafting the 2015 NBA Draft: Role players everywhere

#21 Pick: Richaun Holmes (Originally: Justin Anderson)
In the midst of the Mavericks’ never-ending search for a center taking Richaun Holmes here is worth the shot. He is having a minor breakout season for the Kings after seeing a limited role in Phoenix. Increasing his minutes up to 28.8 per game saw him boost his output to 12.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.
Like O’Neale with the previous pick fans who do not watch a ton of Kings’ games (understandable) may be missing out on the positive impact Holmes has had this season and why he makes sense in this slot.
He does not provide a stretch element to the team but Dallas has shooters around him, including the big man he is most likely to pair with in Porzingis. He is a stable free throw shooter and shoots a strong 65.4 percent from the floor.
Anderson, however, has been a career G-League player for the most part and was used with Andrew Bogut to trade for Nerlens Noel. If Holmes catches on in Dallas the likelihood of signing Bogut past his prime and then trade for Noel dwindles greatly. There is no telling if he is the center of the future but at a minimum he makes future decisions slightly easier.
