Redrafting the 2015 NBA Draft: Role players everywhere

#20 Pick: Royce O’Neale (Originally: Delon Wright)
Delon Wright is absolutely a defensible pick for the Raptors from a talent perspective, but given the number of guards on the roster I decided to go another way. Wright is a guy I would have loved to see this coaching staff get to work with on a roster with players blocking him positionally.
Casual fans may not appreciate what Royce O’Neale but he is essential to the success the Jazz have had. He is the quintessential role player who is willing to take the toughest assignment on defense every night and shoot lights out on the few 3-point attempts he is given per game. He is never going to get a lot of shot attempts but he makes the most of them (career average 38.0 3-point percentage) and is a phenomenal teammate.
Picking between these two players is splitting hairs between which positions you want to fortify. Given the Raptors’ luck at nailing the guard position over the years I trust them to find an alternative. If this can prevent them from taking a swing on Stanley Johnson (more on him later) while adding a high-quality role player this is a no-brainer to me.
