Redrafting the 2015 NBA Draft: Role players everywhere

#17 Pick: Larry Nance Jr. (Originally: Rashad Vaughn)

This pick was strange at the time and had aged rather poorly. Rashad Vaughn played for three teams in three years and was out of the league by the end of the 2018 season. Milwaukee had an interesting young core already in place with Khris Middleton, Brandon Knight, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker. Adding another impact player could have gone a long way.

Larry Nance Jr. may not a star but his fit on this team would have been fascinating. His fit alongside the core four above and would provide a big man who could play in the modern game with any of the forwards above.

Even on a bad Cleveland team, Nance has never gotten more than 26 minutes per game so he likely caps out as a role player behind Brook Lopez on the current Bucks, but even that has its benefits.

Nance would be filling the role that used to belong to Thon Maker. This may have swayed the team from taking Maker with the 10th pick the following season and giving them another chance to build around their young stars with more young talent. Admittedly it is tough to nitpick one of the current deepest rosters in the league but there is always room for improvement.
