Redrafting the 2015 NBA Draft: Role players everywhere

#13 Pick: Willie Cauley-Stein (Originally: Devin Booker)
What a blow for the Suns, who rarely get draft picks right but hit this selection out of the park. Missing out on Devin Booker really sets the franchise back a lot, which is saying something for a perennial lottery team. The biggest areas of need for this team are shooting guard and center. With a glut of big men available they have their choice.
Willie Cauley-Stein is likely the best prospect among them still available and actually fits the team drafting him this time. Cauley-Stein improved once the team moved on from Cousins, averaging 12.8 points and 7 rebounds in 2017-2018 followed by 11.9 points and 8.4 rebounds in 2018-2019.
He has the tools to be a solid defensive player and hopefully will learn better in Dallas than he did in a mess of a Kings situation. While the Suns’ situation was not great it is hard to find a better mentor for someone like Willie Cauley-Stein than Tyson Chandler. Chandler did not have the best reputation while in Phoenix but the hope is he would have taken to mentoring the young guy. At a minimum, he immediately replaces Alex Len.
