Indiana Pacers starting point guard Malcolm Brogdon gives an injury update after tearing his quadriceps muscle in early March.
Malcolm Brogdon before the NBA season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, he tore his quadriceps muscle in early March. But, in an update the Indiana Pacers posted on their Twitter account, Brogdon says: “I’m 100 percent.”

"“Hey Pacers fans, it’s Malcolm Brogdon here. Just want to give you an update on my injury. I’m feeling great,” Brogdon said. “I’ve been doing a lot of rehab, as much as I can under this quarantine but I’m 100 percent. I’ve been on my Peleton bike and I’ve been running hills in my backyard. But, thank you for all your support and wishes and prayers.”"
This is huge news for the Pacers if the NBA resumes play this upcoming season. He would give them a much-needed boost on the offensive side of the ball and can take a lot of pressure off of Victor Oladipo and Myles Turner.
Brogdon was a key addition the Pacers made last summer in the sign-and-trade deal with the Milwaukee Bucks. Throughout the season, he was averaging 16.3 points, 7.1 assists, 4.7 rebounds per game. When Brogdon was in the starting lineup, according to J. Michael of the Indy Star, the Pacers are 30-18. The team went 4-1 when he was out due to his injury. The team is currently 39-25, and are the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Whenever the season resumes play, if it does at all, Brogdon will be a huge spark plug for the team, as they are currently battling for position in the Eastern Conference. In the meantime, it is good to hear that he is 100 percent healthy and ready to go whenever the season resumes play. He will play a key role whenever the season resumes, and where the Pacers will finish in the Eastern Conference.
When the season comes back and assuming all teams have a couple of weeks of some training to get into, Brogdon and Oladipo, and the rest of the team for that matter can work on their chemistry, and see how everyone can coexist with one another.
Having that time could be a blessing for the Pacers because they have time to integrate Brogdon back into the lineup and iron out and rust, or any hiccups that may come along the way. They can also run which sets work with Brogdon, and figure out which sets don’t work for him.
For Brogdon and Oladipo, they have a chance to be an explosive and dynamic backcourt if they can coexist together. You saw above what Brogdon’s averages this season were before he got injured. Oladipo’s averages this season, when he returned from injury, were 13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists. He has only played 13 games this season, but those early numbers from Oladipo shows how much of an offensive threat this backcourt can be.
If you add those two scoring averages together, that is 30.1 points per game right now. Those averages for the two will be going up for sure. This dynamic duo can coexist together on both ends of the floor, and they need to coexist together to help the Pacers take the next leap. Pacers fans should be very excited about the potential of this backcourt.
The front office, coaches and fans are thrilled to hear that news of Brogdon being healthy as they envisioned a team led by him, Oladipo and Turner leading the Pacers into the playoffs.
If the season resumes, they have a chance to show what type of damage they can do with a fully healthy team.
