The Moves: Drafted and then traded Maurice Harkless

Maurice Harkless

Now, this one is going to be fairly quick. In 2012, the Philadelphia 76ers would end up selecting Maurice Harkless at 15. Harkless never played a single minute for Philadelphia, as he would be traded soon after as he was another chip in the infamous Andrew Bynum trade, where he would join center Nikola Vucevic.

The 2012 NBA Draft was, like many other drafts, a mixed bag. You had guys like Anthony Davis Bradley Beal, and Damian Lillard at the top. Then, the rest of the NBA Draft was a mix-and-match of players who would end up being solid role players and a few hidden gems (like Draymond Green and Khris Middleton). Harkless would end up in the role player category. Since the Sixers never actually had Harkless suit up, it seems unfair to give him a low grade.

However, as a player, Harkless is sort of what you expect at 15. He was reliable during his time with the Portland Trailblazers. He averaged a solid 7.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game during that four-year stretch.

So, Maurice Harkless never even got a chance to compete in Philadelphia, so for that reason, I feel as though this grade should be incomplete. (Although Andrew Bynum gets an F- from me.)
