Conclusion

There are some options if the New York Knicks want to trade for Markkanen.

As shown in all the trade scenarios, it involves the Knicks trading players and at least one of their first-rounders to get Markkanen in return.

More from New York Knicks

The most favorable trade that has been listed is the Magic trade because it is the least amount of assets that the Knicks would have to give up. But the big question that still remains is Markkanen’s trade value.

The Knicks’ best solution is to try to get him would be to wait until 2021 is when Markkanen becomes a restricted free agent. It’s their safest bet because they can match the Bulls offer and try to force their hand in paying the big man. Also, 2021 is when the team has the option to not resign Randle and can enter the Giannis Antetokounmpo race. The Knicks could try to entice the Greek Freak to come to New York by saying they’ll pay to get Markkanen (very unlikely, I know).

It would just be nice for the New York Knicks to get Markkanen because they need a starter who can stretch the floor. Knicks fans don’t want to see Barrett and Robinson continuously struggle to get their shots up based on the lack of floor spacing. Also, it would just be nice to have aesthetically pleasing basketball back in The World’s Most Famous Arena.
