As things currently stand, the New Orleans Pelicans would have a mid first-round pick. Here we go over five options that would be good options for the team.

With the NBA standings as they currently are, the New Orleans Pelicans sit at tenth in the Eastern Conference with the thirteenth worst record in the league. As the COVID-19 outbreak continues, news whether or not the NBA will resume is nowhere to be seen and nobody really knows what’s going to happen.

Suggestions of scrapping the rest of the regular season and going into the playoffs with the standings as they currently are have been made, and also suggestions of coming back to play a few games to get ready for the postseason. Whatever happens, the draft order is something that’s going to have to be sorted out.

As of now, the Pelicans would have a lottery pick – which would likely be at the very end of the lottery. In this piece, we’re going to look at five realistic targets that the Pelicans could get with their first-round pick, and how they’d fit in with the team.

This draft class isn’t being hyped up as one of the strongest in recent times, but there are plenty of legitimate players who could have very good NBA careers who could be drafted at a position which the New Orleans Pelicans could take.

With March Madness being canceled this year, and the college basketball season never really coming to an end due to the virus it’s going to be a different draft than usual. This could likely be a unique virtual draft – like the NFL did over this past weekend – nevertheless, it remains as important a part to the NBA calendar as in any other year, with real possibilities to strengthen in what is an exciting time for New Orleans.
