Kevin Knox

You’re the Knicks. You draft a guy named Knox. What could go wrong? Unfortunately, as whimsical as that limerick is, everything seems to have gone wrong. Maybe the term “everything” doesn’t even begin to describe the whole story.

Knox’s rookie season was really tough to watch. He was lacking tons of offensive skilfulness and was abysmal, to say the least, on the defensive end. Kevin Knox had the worst box-plus-minus (BPM) in the entire league this season with a BPM of -8.5.

Ceiling: Let’s hope he’s indoors so he can have one

It is really hard to come up with a reason to believe that Knox can show signs of development. People were still pretty optimistic on him before the season began, but Kevin made sure to zip his fans’ mouths.

When compared to his rookie campaign, Knox has plummeted in basically every statistical category. You name it. Scoring? Effectiveness? Consistency? Even his per 36 numbers have gone down.

Prior to the 2018 NBA Draft, Bleacher Report compared him to Kelly Oubre Jr., a comparison that may actually be spot on. Even though Oubre is a quality player in the league now, he too struggled with his shooting and defensive abilities. Let’s hope Knox has the same progression.

Floor: Anthony Tolliver/Allen Crabbe?????

The aforementioned pair appear to be everything Knox is at the moment, though their difference is that due to their increased age, personal development is not something you’d wanna put your money on.

Should Knox fail to put in the hard work to unlock his full potential, then the New York Knicks would have an Anthony Tolliver or Allen Crabbe-type player on their roster. A guy that cannot play much defense, and cannot hit the shots, sometimes even if wide open.
