The New York Knicks have been a constant powerhouse in the draft lottery throughout these past years, making both good and bad selections.

Despite being quite possibly the NBA’s worst team over these past six seasons, the New York Knicks have failed to draft their next superstar, a guy that would try to turn this franchise into a contending one once again.

In all fairness to the organization, they have continuously struck out at the draft lottery. In the five-year span from 2014 to 2019, the Knicks have had the 15th seed in the Eastern Conference on two different occasions and their best performance was an 11th seed in 2018.

As a result, you’d expect a team that bad to receive the adequate rebuilding blocks via the draft, right? Unfortunately, when it comes to the Knicks, this was the first time they had their hands on a top-3 pick since 1985 when they drafted Patrick Ewing.

A possible silver lining to this whole “rebuilding” situation, is RJ Barrett, who has been quite the exciting player to watch during his rookie year so far. Even though it is too early to predict his future performances and accolades, things are looking good for the Maple Mamba.

As we are in that place of this article where one could quite easily insert a “Kristaps Porzingis got traded away” type of joke, let’s avoid hurtful comments like these in the midst of a pandemic, shall we?

Regardless of the number that was announced prior to these players’ walk on the draft stage,  the Knicks seem to possess a group of quite promising young players. Will these players reach their maximum potential, or will they remain in a stage of mediocrity?
