Is Draymond Green still an All-Star?

No one in the Warriors’ organization may have had a worse year than Draymond Green. Thompson and Curry weren’t mandatory attendees for games this year while treating their injuries.

But Green, well he was left out on the floor every night playing next to a roster that resembled a band of G-League All-Stars. No, quite literally. The Warriors employed a number of players on two-way and 10-day contracts just to make it through the season.

And at first, there was some sympathy for one of the league’s most historic trash talkers. Then, well, people started paying attention to his on-court production.

It was without a doubt the worst year for Green’s career thus far. And while it’s easy to argue he was without his two All-Star companions, the versatility of his game should be more apparent when not surrounded by such flashy and explosive scorers.

Green posted 8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists in 43 appearances for the beaten up Warriors of 2019-2020. All while shooting on a historically poor 39/28/76 shooting split.

Before Golden State can commit to Andrew Wiggins, or begin planning their draft night strategy, they’ll have to assess what they have in Draymond Green, and what he left in the tank.

30 years old isn’t elderly in NBA years by any means, but the Warriors are on the hunt for a title; being the weakest link has a price, and it’s far cheaper than his $22 million salary.
