With a semi-disastrous season pretty much off the books, the New York Knicks should begin looking ahead at potential signings in free agency.

During the 2018-19 NBA season, the New York Knicks were bad. How bad? Franchise-low kind of bad. They tied their worst record in franchise history by going 17-65, a record which was set just four years prior to that.

Then, they were supposed to be incredibly active players in the 2019 offseason period and were targeting some of the league’s finest players. After, well, completely failing at that attempt, they signed a number of good role players that could at least help the team improve, going forward.

These veterans seemed to help the team quite a bit, though a playoff spot was entirely out of the picture. Regardless of that, prior to the NBA’s hiatus, the Knicks were far from being the league’s worst team. GO KNICKS!

By the time NBA basketball came to a halt, the Knicks were 21-45, a record that placed them 24th in the league standings.

The 2020 free agency pool shares very little resemblance to the one we witnessed last year. Apart from Anthony Davis, there isn’t a single franchise-turning player available to be picked up. And when it comes to AD, his chances of abandoning a well-put Los Angeles Lakers team are slim to none.

Regardless of that, there appears to be a large number of borderline All-Stars and quality starters, available to be signed once July kicks off. Should the Knicks succeed in signing a few of these names, the following season will become a whole lot interesting.
