If you had to build your future NBA team around one point guard, would you pick Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks or Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies?

We should be just hitting the best point in the NBA calendar right now, as ordinarily, the playoffs would have kicked off over the weekend. While it is disappointing that this is not the case, as fans we are blessed with the fact there is such depth of talent in the league these days.

When the games do eventually come back, there is going to be so much to look forward to. But while we spend our time rating hairstyles and All-Star jerseys from the past, another way we can take stock of some of the guys in the league is by trying to figure out who you’d rather start a team with?

In that sense, we’ve come up with two guys here who to this point haven’t been mentioned in conversations together, because of who they are. Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks will always be linked with Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks as a result of the draft-day trade that saw them switch locations.

While to a lesser extent Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies will remain connected with Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans because they went one and two in the 2019 Draft and Morant had a genuine claim to Rookie of the Year before the season came to a halt because of the time Williamson spent out injured.

But if you had to build a team around one of these guys, who would you pick and why? There is no wrong answer here, despite both being so young they have already proven that they are clearly among the most exciting prospects in the league for the next 10 years (assuming they stay healthy). But if you had to take one, are you going Morant or Young?
