4. Kurt Rambis

Fans might recall Kurt Rambis from his days assistant coaching the Los Angeles Lakers under Phil Jackson for 12 seasons and becoming the head coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves for two and the New York Knicks for one, but they might not know about his basketball career.

Rambis was a 6’8″ power forward who was drafted by the Lakers in the second round with the 58th pick in the 1980 NBA Draft out of Santa Clara College.

In nine seasons with the Lakers, he averaged 4.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. During his tenure in LA, he played with many Laker greats such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson and won four titles.

He later played with the Charlotte Hornets during the 1988-89 with Dell Curry and Muggsy Bogues where he had a career season of 10.7 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.

He played with the Suns and Kings during the final years of his career. On the Kings during the 92-93 season, he only averaged 2.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game and played with great players such as Mitch Richmond, Spud Webb and Wayman Tisdale. He finished his career with the Lakers in 1994-95.
