#1: Eric Bledsoe (2013-17)
It feels like a lifetime ago since Eric Bledsoe decided that he didn’t want to be in Phoenix anymore. While it’s almost certain that we’ll never see Bledsoe in a Phoenix jersey again, the Suns would love to have an All-Star caliber point guard.
Bledsoe’s four-season stint was fantastic, even though his team never achieved wins at all. Bledsoe seemed loyal to the whole tanking process, so we all thought. It caught all fans by surprise that Bledsoe wanted out, especially in such a public way.
Bledsoe was dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks and he’s since thrived alongside his teammates in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. While he hasn’t been as good as he once was in Phoenix, Bledsoe has still gained his reputation as a premier two-way point guard.
Now let’s jump back to the lovely city of Phoenix, and how Bledsoe would fit into the picture. Immediately, Bledsoe would fit into the starting lineup, pushing Rubio into a backup role. Already, the playmaking and defense of Bledsoe, matched with shooting ability of Booker already proves to be dangerous. Pair that with a young paint scorer and defender in Ayton, and there are some wonders.
While losing Rubio is a bit of a negative, a presence like Rubio to run off the bench certainly caters for their bench guys, like Cameron Johnson and Aron Baynes, who both pair well with a pass-first guard like Rubio. It doesn’t necessarily make sense for the Suns to gain Bledsoe, but think of the possibilities.
But for a bit of a reality check, there is almost no chance that we’ll see Eric Bledsoe playing for Phoenix ever again. Not only was he obviously frustrated enough to tweet his dismay to the losing culture, but his team are winning and are on track to possibly make history.
But, where’s the shame in having a little fun?
