#3: P.J. Tucker (2012-17)

This just seems like the perfect fit for the Suns if I’m being completely honest. P.J. Tucker had an alright tenure in Phoenix, but it feels like he was at the wrong team. A two-way roleplayer such as Tucker could’ve been thriving apart of a contending team much earlier than 2017.

A consistent spot-up shooter seems to be what the Suns are gunning for, especially during the past season, with Dario Saric entering the lineup. But they didn’t garner any consistent success around Saric, who was hot and cold throughout the 2019-20 season. He was alright, but for a team that could be entering the playoff picture as soon as next season, it’s not reliable enough for success.

This is where P.J. Tucker comes into the picture.

Throw in the expertise of Tucker as a starting power forward, and you’ve got some magic. The pass-first playstyle of Rubio, along with the developing play-making ability of Booker paired with a spot-up, corner specialist such as Tucker should equal instant glory.

Through his season alongside Russell Westbrook with the Houston Rockets, he’s broken out as one of the best two-way players on the scene. He’s done great for himself in Houston, and the Suns seem to have something similar going on there. A pure scoring machine in Booker and a rebounding juggernaut in Ayton is eerily similar to that of James Harden and Clint Capela. While they weren’t necessarily successful in terms of playoffs, they all showed glimpses of dominance.

That same dominance could be achieved if Tucker was to ever make the jump to Phoenix.
