Introducing the NBA’s All-Underrated-Under 25 team
Eric Paschall
The conversation was brief, moreso towards the start of the 2019-2020 campaign: Have the Golden State Warriors once again found a diamond in the rough via impressive scouting?
Eric Paschall was drafted by the Warriors with the 41st pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. A second-round selection, any of today’s redrafts would have him a near-lottery selection. He’s averaging 14 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 60 games this season.
Now, there was some hype surrounding Paschall towards the beginning of the year. He put together an impressive string of 12 starting appearances for the Warriors, who’ve been without Klay Thompson for the entire year and Stephen Curry for a majority.
In that span he posted 18.5 points and 6.3 rebounds on a 49/35/76 shooting split. Paschall put together performances of 22, 24, 25, and 30 in a stretch that saw Golden State get three very rare wins in a year where they’ve seen just 15 in 65 games.
Paschall is a strong scorer and defender. He needs some work on his jumpshot, but as a rookie was fairly impressive in comparison to his peers. Per Basketball Reference, he and RJ Barrett were the only rookies this season to average 14 or more points and four or more rebounds.
As the Warriors resume what they hope will continue to be their dynasty, keep an eye on Paschall as a large contributor off the bench for Golden State.
