Phoenix Suns: Ranking Devin Booker’s best games this season
By Jono Perilli
4: 40 PTS, 6 AST, 2 REBS vs Memphis Grizzlies (January 5th)
While he couldn’t lead the team to the win, Devin Booker’s 40 points seemed to be the only shining star from the Suns’ performance against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Booker was able to have a great night against the Grizzlies, notching up his 40 points on 65 percent shooting from the field, while only knocking down one three. It was his ability to consistently score that kept the Suns competitive against the Grizzlies, especially since his teammates struggled.
Booker was also able to keep both his turnovers and personal fouls to under three, which was impressive considering his high usage of the ball. Surprisingly, Booker wasn’t able to show his shooting prowess, only nailing one three in five attempts.
What’s also impressive is the fact that Booker was able to shatter the franchise record of 30+ point games, which seemed to be the only celebratory fact from their loss. What makes this performance so prominent, is that Booker showed his ability to completely carry his Suns when his teammates hit a slump. It was a lack of impact from his teammates that truly broke the Suns down in his heart-breaking loss.
This was certainly a rough performance by his team, but Devin Booker was able to flourish in unfortunate circumstances.
