NBA’s best out-of-nowhere performances this season
The NBA had plenty of moments this year that seemingly came from out of nowhere. There were many performances to choose from, but who cracked the top 10?
To say “out-of-nowhere”, is to describe the 2019-20 NBA season to an absolute tee. No event could have been more shocking to the basketball world than the eruption of COVID-19, beginning with Rudy Gobert‘s playful tarnishing of media equipment at a press conference back in March, and subsequent halt to basketball season by the decision of commissioner Adam Silver.
Unfortunately, news of the league’s shutdown broke after it was revealed that the same aforementioned misguided practical jokester had come down with the virus himself.

And thus, avid basketball connoisseurs have been forcefully relegated to delve through eons of Youtube clippings to satisfy their hoops cravings, and set their DVRs to certain primetime television slots in hopes of catching glimpses of old highlights put out by sporting networks starving to feed their hungry viewers with content.
And of course, there’s the recent NBA 2K tournament that graced our television screens, which provided nothing more for most fans than more painstaking reminders of the current sports-less climate that has dawned upon us all.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are in trying times. And perhaps the only form of hoops that will suffice for those missing that ever-satisfying hardwood action, exists within our memory banks.

While there couldn’t have been a more surprising event for the basketball world than this ravaging virus, there were countless performances throughout the games that were played that undoubtedly took our collective breaths away.
The unbelievable shots that made us do double-takes, the crossovers that raised the hairs on our necks, the feats of athleticism that left our mouths gaping towards the floor – those were the ones that stuck with us the most. And it was even better when they were from sources we would’ve never seen coming.
