2. He made Steven Adams depressed

Garnett’s trash talk was legend throughout the league. No matter if he was on the Celtics, the Brooklyn Nets, or the Timberwolves; if an opponent was coming to face Garnett’s team, the big man knew what was coming.

This fact wasn’t lost on Steven Adams. Adams, who was a bit of a talker himself (much to the chagrin of teammate Russell Westbrook), but his conversations tend to be on the friendlier side of the spectrum.

Garnett never really talked to Adams, choosing instead to focus his efforts on Serge Ibaka, but even just being around Garnett seemed to be enough to throw Adams off his game. When asked who were the best trash talkers in the league, Adams said:

"KG and (Kendrick Perkins), those two are ridiculous…They make you question, like, why you are playing basketball and stuff. You’re like ‘Why am I doing this?’ It’s really weird, you get depressed"

And when asked about Garnett specifically, Adams responded:

"Thankfully, he doesn’t talk to me…But he was talking to Serge once and I was like ‘Woah, that’s some stuff.‘ I cannot repeat it…He’s talking to himself, but he like makes you feel bad because he mentions you in it. You’re like, ‘What the hell? This is crazy?’ I walk away so I don’t hear it because then, I don’t know, I’ll get real sad.”"

It seems like Garnett’s trash talk, and even his self talk, had some real impact on Adams, and considering he once told KG that he doesn’t speak English specifically to avoid the trash talk, you can only imagine the things he was saying.
