Four best moments of the Portland Trail Blazers season
Carmelo Anthony’s career revival
When the Houston Rockets cut Carmelo Anthony, no team appeared to have the intestinal fortitude to sign one of the leading scorers in NBA history. It seemed the basketball world had missed their chance to have a farewell tour for Anthony.
Then one man’s misfortune is another’s opportunity. Collins went down in the third game of the season and the Trail Blazers starting losing. Then the rumors started that the Trail Blazers were interested in signing Anthony.
There was a lot of vitriol about why the franchise would sign a washed-up player like Anthony. Their season must be over if they were thinking of signing ten-time All-Star. Then Anthony showed that he is no finished, that he has something left to give.
In the 50 games he has played this season, Anthony has averaged 15.3 points, 6.3 rebounds,1.6 assists, and 0.8 steals per game. He is shooting surprising well for a player nearing the end of his career with a slash line of 42.6/37.1/84.3. Anthony has always been an elite shooter.
Anthony has also collected four double-doubles on the season which is solid, especially since his career appeared to be over last season. His renaissance has been one of the best stories in the entire NBA this season, not just for the Portland Trail Blazers.
