Eric Gordon
The second top-10 pick on this list and this time, there were not any better players that were drafted afterward. The LA Clippers selected Eric Gordon with the seventh overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft. I think many people forget before arriving in New Orleans and before injuries, Gordon was a walking bucket.
He straight away showed to everyone that he is a great offensive player in both summer league and pre-season. When the season came around, he did not stop either. In his rookie season, he averaged 16.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists whilst shooting 38.9 percent from deep. Did you know Gordon posted one of the most efficient seasons by a rookie guard?
Let’s just say it is fair to say he had a stellar offensive rookie season.
And that improved in the second season and again in the third season with the Clippers. In his last season with the Clippers, he really went off and improved his game. He went ahead and averaged 22.3 points (highest on the team), 2.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists on 56.6 true shooting percentage.
That of course, did not matter as the Clippers soon traded him to New Orleans. Similarly to Gilgeous-Alexander’s situation, the trade was without a doubt worth it. His three-year stretch was definitely one of the best the Clippers have had in quite some time.
