Al-Farouq Aminu

The first top-10 pick on the list and the LA Clippers could not have messed it up worse. In the 2010 NBA draft, they selected Al-Farouq Aminu with the eighth overall pick, but what makes this pick bad is who went just moments after him. Yes, the Clippers missed out on both Paul George and Gordon Hayward, but this is not about that, just something worth mentioning.

Aminu had only spent his rookie season playing for the Clippers and in that year, he had a solid rookie season. In 81 games, he averaged 5.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 0.7 assists. But the best thing that Aminu gave the Clippers is being part of a trade package.

During his second season, he was packaged alongside other players to acquire Chris Paul. After that, Aminu played for the Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers, where he was one of the key players in their constant success, and now, plays for the Magic.

Al Thornton

Another selection. In 2007, the LA Clippers selected Al Thornton with the 14th overall pick. Thornton came to the league as a 24-year-old after he spent four years at Florida State University and despite that, he was mostly coming off the bench in his rookie season.

The Clippers were filled with many, many power forwards and centers such as Elton Brand, Chris Kaman, and Tim Thomas, which makes sense to why he was not able to start. However, he still managed to start in 31 games and in those games, he averaged 12.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists. This was enough to earn him an All-Rookie first-team selection.

He followed his rookie season with an improved second year in which he increased his averages in every category. But that did not matter, as come next season, he was traded to the Wizards.

After being traded, he lasted three more seasons in the NBA before playing around overseas and eventually playing in the BIG 3.
