Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Draft 2020: Top 3 prospects to target
By Tony Pesta
The Cleveland Cavaliers need to begin narrowing down their targets for the 2020 NBA Draft. Here are three top prospects to consider.
At some point in the future, the world will go back to normal and the NBA will resume. Until this happens, the Cleveland Cavaliers need to be putting all their resources into selecting the best prospect available in the 2020 NBA Draft.
It’s going to be more difficult than ever to accurately evaluate this class heading into draft night. Top prospects such as LaMelo Ball and R.J. Hampton suffered season-ending injuries during their time overseas while James Wiseman was only able to appear in three games for Memphis before a scandal ended his NCAA career early.
As for the rest of the prospects, the COVID-19 pandemic halted any chance of them competing at the highest level and displaying their talents in the March Madness tournament.
Before the NBA season came to a dead stop, the Cavaliers stood tied with the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves for the highest odds to win the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery. Each holds a 14.0 percent chance of securing the first pick.
The Cavaliers will have to choose wisely this year. It is their third trip to the lottery since 2018. With their previous selections, the Cavs chose Collin Sexton and Darius Garland.
Pressure is mounting in Cleveland and the fans are desperate for the franchise to take another step forward in the rebuild. This draft will require some blind luck but here are three players the Cavs should have at the top of their wishlist.
