3. The 3-and-D guy – Devin Vassell, Florida State

Every single team in the NBA could use another 3-and-D guy.

It just so happens the 2020 class is loaded with them, and Devin Vassell could be the best of them all.

Hailing from Florida State, Vassell is entering the league from one of the ACC’s top programs that has pumped out NBA talent like few others in the country. This lineage of success bodes well for the guard.

While Vassell could step in anywhere in the league and contribute, he’ll fit in well with this pass-first, ball-movement offense with Ball at the helm. Primarily a catch and shoot focused player offensively, Vassell adds value on the that end of the floor by adding spacing for Zion, Jaxson Hayes and possibly Favors to do work, if he is to return to New Orleans in 2020.

The major effect Vassell would have for the Pelicans is on the defensive end of the floor. He has the size and length to step in and impact games immediately. He’ll be a stopper of opponents wing players the Pelicans could absolutely use.

With the clear value in shooting and defensive play, Vassell has a fairly high floor. However, with room to grow offensively, he also has plenty of upside that adds value to what is projected to be the 13th overall pick.
