2012 NBA Redraft: How wrong we were in real time

#18 Pick: John Henson (Originally: Terrence Jones)
For the third time we are talking about the Rockets in this redraft. In fairness to them they selected three fairly interesting players in their own right, taking Jeremy Lamb, Royce White and Terrence Jones. Given that we have replaced them so far with Will Barton and Maurice Harkless another forward makes some sense.
John Henson sliding to the Rockets at 18 seems like a huge win for them. Admittedly I am biased as someone who loved that era of North Carolina basketball but Henson was good and is an effective bench big man who can start in a punch. His per-36 minute numbers for his career come out to an average of 13.9 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.6 blocks.
While he is not the talent that Clint Capela is it is not impossible to imagine D’Antoni getting similar production from Henson and he would have benefited substantially from playing alongside a star like Harden, getting to clean up on 3-point misses from a team that would be chucking them nonstop.
Selfishly I would be rooting for this pick because I would love to watch Henson develop in a fun situation. I have been a fan of his since he was a baby faced freshman at UNC and I truly believe he would have thrived in Houston.
