Denver Nuggets: The best game from every player not named Nikola Jokic
By Dean Hasan
Feb. 10 vs. San Antonio Spurs
Starting in January and running into February, Paul Millsap missed 16 games with a lingering knee injury before making his triumphant return on Feb. 8 against the Phoenix Suns with a double-double off the bench.
The next game, Paul Millsap again reminded everyone that there was no rust to be found, or shaken off for that matter, as he had his best game of the year against the San Antonio Spurs. Millsap balled out off the bench, sparking his team to a seven-point victory on his 35th birthday.
Millsap’s minutes were limited as Mike Malone eased him back into the lineup, but he certainly made the most of them. In 8.5 minutes in the first half, his play was strong on both ends of the court as he recorded a strong six points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
In the second half, Millsap played in a little under 11 minutes and took his game to another level. He had 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and couldn’t miss from deep, converting on all three of his looks from behind the arc. He also tacked on five rebounds, one assist and one block to boot.
Millsap finished the game with 22 points, seven boards, three dimes, two steals, and one block. Given that the Nuggets were behind by 14 at the half, the veteran’s efforts were crucial to overcoming that deficit as Denver went on to win 127-120.
