Denver Nuggets: The best game from every player not named Nikola Jokic
By Dean Hasan
Nov. 17 @ Memphis Grizzlies
Jamal Murray was scorching right out of the gate in this road victory against the Memphis Grizzlies. He quickly torched his opponent for nine straight points, and following his solo 9-2 run to kick things off, Memphis was forced to call a timeout before two minutes had even elapsed.
Murray got out on the fastbreak with frequency early, and his jumper was on point from deep and mid-range en route to an exceptional 16-point first quarter. He didn’t slow down by much in the second quarter, and after the first half was in the books, he already had 26 points and five dimes.
Murray quickly picked up where he left off after the break, lighting up the Grizzlies for four more threes and 13 additional points in the third quarter. He scored or assisted on Denver’s final nine points in the quarter, and by the start of the fourth quarter, his Nuggets were enjoying a 28 point lead.
Given the large score discrepancy, Murray’s night was over, and he didn’t step onto the court in the fourth quarter. In just three quarters and a little over 31 minutes of play, Murray had already recorded 39 points, eight assists, four rebounds, three steals, and one block. His rest, however, was certainly well-deserved given the majority of his team’s lead was built through his excellent play and he was undoubtedly the main reason for the team’s victory.
