4. OG Anunoby

The defensive prowess and more muted expectations of being the 23rd overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft help guard OG Anunoby slot into fourth place on the rankings. He still has a lot to learn, but at 22 years old, his development to this point has been promising.

Anunoby was a regular starter during his rookie season. He scored just 5.9 points per game, but he shot 37.1 percent from 3-point range. He also hit a magnificent buzzer-beater against the Cleveland Cavaliers towards the end of the regular season.

Anunoby fell back into a bench role during his second season but still saw his stats increase across the board, including his minutes (20.2 per game) and scoring (7.0 points per game). There was a lot of excitement about what he would do in the postseason, but he missed the entire championship run after undergoing an appendectomy.

His third season to this point has featured even further development for Anunoby. He’s averaging a career-best 10.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He has accounted for 3.3 defensive win shares, matching his combined total from his first and second seasons. At the beginning of March, he scored a career-best 32 points and added an unfathomable seven steals in a loss to the Denver Nuggets, arguably the best game of his NBA career.

Anunoby still has room to grow on the offensive end. But he’s setting himself up well to be a big part of the franchise’s future.
