6. Robert Williams

The Boston Celtics drafted Robert Williams 27th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. In two seasons at Texas A&M, Williams averaged 11.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while becoming a two-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year. The purpose of drafting Williams was to give the Celtics an additional athletic big man.

Unfortunately, Williams has dealt with a plethora of injuries since being drafted to the team. Most recently, Williams was diagnosed with a left-hip bone edema that has made him limited for a majority of the season this year. In 55 total games over two seasons, Williams has averaged 3.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.

Fortunately for Williams, the C’s have still yet to fill their big man needs and he still remains part of the future plans. When healthy, he is extremely athletic and protects the rim better than anyone currently on the team. No matter what his role is moving forward, Williams is very capable of being a complementary player for the Celtics.

If Williams can create more of a shot for himself on the offensive end, he will become even more deserving of additional minutes. The team is hoping that Williams can return to full health and be more of the dominant type of player that he was when drafted in 2018.
