The Boston Celtics selected a young 20-year-old Jaylen Brown with the third overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Since then, Brown has become an integral piece to the foundation of the Celtics, but despite him being a high first-round draft pick, it has not been an easy ride for him by any means.

After his rookie season, all signs lead to believe that Brown was going to be the full-time starter moving forward, but instead Brown was actually expected to take on a backseat role to Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, which he did with professionalism and class. Even so, Brown still managed to start 25 games that season and averaged 13 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 26 minutes per game.

Brown is following up last season by earning himself a new 4-year, $115 million contract extension and having a career season where he is averaging 20.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and one steal this season while playing in 34 minutes per game. He is the third-highest scorer on the Celtics this season.

The Boston Celtics obviously feel very strong about the future they have with Brown and the plans the franchise has moving forward. Brown is only 23 years old, signed his first contract extension, and is now poised to be in Boston for a long time.
