4. Precious Achiuwa (Memphis)

Best-case comparison: Pascal Siakam; Realistic comparison: Montrezl Harrell

Precious Achiuwa is a 6’9” power forward/center from Memphis who thrived in the absence of James Wiseman this season and proved he is worth a first-round selection in this year’s draft.

Achiuwa is an incredibly athletic big man with great defensive instincts and good finishing ability around the basket who showed flashes of being a decent shooter. He would pair nicely alongside Siakam. However, similar to Paul Reed from DePaul, much of what Achiuwa brings to the table is somewhat redundant with Siakam.

Achiuwa has great hands-on defense both in terms of blocking shots and swiping at the ball to disrupt drives. He consistently provides great hustle on both ends of the floor and has shown flashes as both the pick and roll ball handler and screener. He is also capable of handling the ball in isolation in a somewhat limited capacity.

As mentioned, Achiuwa is an elite defender as he averaged 1.9 blocks and 1.1 steals per game at Memphis this season. He also has a smooth shooting form. While he only shot 32.5 percent from three and 59.9 percent from the free-throw line this season, his form could be an indicator of a much-improved jump shot in the future.

When it comes down to it, if Precious Achiuwa is still on the board at 28, the Raptors would be silly not to take him.
