Phoenix Suns: Ranking the last 10 first-round picks
By Jono Perilli
7: Alex Len (2013)
Len was drafted wit the fifth overall pick in the 2013 draft. Immediately, there were some questions when the Suns selected Len, especially since they passed on Nerlens Noel, who was coming into the draft as the likely top pick before tearing his ACL mid-season.
Len was a tough one to judge, especially since it was hard to scout the center on such a small sample size. Still, it was a good bet to handle. Len was expected to be selected somewhere in the top 10, so the Suns could’ve had a good player on their hands either way.
In his five seasons with the Suns, Len was able to put up 7.2 points while grabbing 6.5 rebounds in 19.9 minutes per game.
Len was more suited as a role-player than a franchise centerpiece, which the Suns wanted. After his five years in Phoenix, Len signed to the Atlanta Hawks before getting dealt to the Sacramento Kings.
