2010 NBA Redraft: Looking back at how things change with hindsight

#10 Pick: Avery Bradley (Originally: Paul George)

The team whose draft return may drop off the most from this is the Indiana Pacers. Similar to the Jazz, they go from taking a multi-time All-Star to picking between the best available role players.

That being said, Avery Bradley fits those Pacers teams so well from a personality standpoint. Bradley was a standout high school player before having a quiet season at the University of Texas that led to him going outside of the lottery.

A defensive-minded grinder of a guard who had some athletic ability at the beginning of his career would have complimented the gritty Pacers team well who would go on to make the playoffs in George’s first season.

This move could have changed things for the Pacers in many other minor ways. If they draft a guard this high, they likely would not have traded for Darren Collison over the summer. They also may have not taken a chance on Lance Stephenson in the second round of this draft.

While this is a definite step back in terms of talent being taken for the Pacers, recovering and getting to land Bradley is a nice second option. The biggest loss is for the fans who enjoyed watching the early 2010s Pacers teams giving LeBron James and the Miami Heat some trouble on their title chases.
