8. Tying a career-high in assists against Orlando (01/15/20)

LeBron’s ability to contribute across multiple facets of a basketball game is perhaps his greatest attribute. It fills up nightly box scores and allows him to remain impactful in the event of a rare off-night in the scoring column.

One such game came against the Orlando Magic, where James struggled all night long with 19 points on 7-of-19 shooting from the field and 2-of-9 from downtown.

Rather than attempt to shoot his way out of an off-night as many choose to do, LeBron, having unofficially moved to the point guard position before the season — even more than his role as a point forward — simply adjusted his lenses and focused on that which he truly does best.

In finishing with 19 assists, LeBron James tied his career-high in dimes, only to watch it come in vain in a slim one-point defeat.

LeBron’s passing abilities are on par with the greatest in NBA history. But given the heavy offensive burden he consistently shoulders, rarely has that trait engulfed the entirety of his on-court persona even as the primary ballhandler on whichever team he plays for.

Those limitations weren’t the case on this night — possibly to the detriment of a struggling Laker offense in the absence of Anthony Davis.

In a full embrace of his unselfish gifts, James provided another glimpse of the Magic Johnson-Esque levels he can reach, the type that further does justice to his claim as history’s greatest all-around player.
