LeBron James’ 10 best performances of the season
9. Scorching San Antonio at Staples (02/04/20)
By the start of the fourth quarter in their matchup with the San Antonio Spurs, the Lakers held a 10-point edge.
LeBron James began the final frame on the court. When he exited with 4:20 remaining, LA had doubled the lead thanks to one of the King’s better displays of long-range shooting on the year.
In over seven minutes of action, James scored 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Amid a three-minute stretch, that included five consecutive makes from the 3-point line, each more daring than the previous one to send the Staples Center crowd into a fit of hysteria.
In its entirety, James finished with 36 points after struggling with just 15 the previous outing. He also produced nine assists and seven rebounds while canning a season-high six 3-pointers in a 27-point rout.
Every player can find their own version of the hot hand. Few can reach the inferno levels of the game’s elite where any attempt is fair game.
LeBron James has had similar runs in the past. This was simply an addition to the collection, one that came too fast for the Spurs to comprehend before it was too late.
