10 players that played for both the Lakers and the Celtics
4. Isaiah Thomas
The post-Celtics Isaiah Thomas era is something pretty much every NBA fan would like to have completely wiped out of their memory. From being a mini-king and an MVP candidate in Boston, to being tossed around the league endlessly.
Thomas, though jobless, is still an icon and an inspiration around the league. He has shown that hard work beats talent. If the 5’9” tall 60th overall pick in the draft can average 28.9 points per game for an entire season, then maybe every young basketball fan can.
Thomas had just found a permanent home in the NBA in Boston and his career was looking more settled than ever before. That is, until NBA business happened.
In the snap of Danny Ainge‘s fingers, Thomas was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, in exchange for an unsettled Kyrie Irving. And just like that, Thomas was, once again, on the move towards the unknown.
After half a season of injury struggles, the Cavaliers, who were pursuing their second championship in three years, moved Thomas to the Lakers. Even though the King of the Fourth played for the Lakers very recently, sometimes it still slips one’s mind.
The Los Angeles Lakers had no use for Thomas and let him walk in free agency. During the 17 games he suited up for the team, he averaged 15.6 points and 5.0 assists per game on some atrocious shooting percentages.
