10 players that played for both the Lakers and the Celtics
8. Bob McAdoo
Bob McAdoo is best known for his superstar-level career with the Buffalo Braves. The Braves were the ancestors of the San Diego Clippers, who, you guessed it, are the ancestors of the current LA Clippers.
In 1979, McAdoo was a member of the New York Knicks and was beginning to slow down as an NBA star. Around the mid-point of the season, he was dealt to the Celtics, who only used his services for 20 games, despite being the team’s leading scorer.
After a couple more stints with a few different teams, a 30-year-old McAdoo would find his way to the Los Angeles Lakers via trade. The Lakers had a win-now team and McAdoo served as a quality backup to Kareem.
With the help of his–more than qualified–teammates, McAdoo would win his first and second NBA Championships of his career.
In fact, he would beat his ex-team, the Celtics, as well as the Philadelphia 76ers who would become the final team he ever played for. He joined them right after winning his second championship and retired in Philly.
