10 players that played for both the Lakers and the Celtics
1. Shaquille O’Neal
There is a very tiny chance you didn’t know Shaquille O’Neal once played for the Celtics. Mainly because Shaq is such a huge media presence that very little remains unknown about him.
While he was on the Lakers, no one could deny Shaq the title of being the best player in the world. Playing with such dominance that we have never seen before, O’Neal would bully his opponents night in, night out, destroying those that stood on his way…literally.
He won the MVP award in 2000, along with three consecutive NBA titles to start off the 21st century, earning the Bill Russell Finals MVP trophy each of those three times. There was simply no stopping that guy.
Who knows how many championships that team would end up winning, had he and Kobe not developed chemistry issued. Those issues were solved, as in any other case, via trade. The person that got traded out of the two, was the Big Aristotle.
Moving on to the Celtics version of Diesel, there is no denying that he was incredibly out of shape. His muscles had turned into fat and his condition didn’t allow him to play more than 20 minutes a night, half of what he was used to playing in LA.
Despite all that, Shaq was still a force of nature. His move to the Celtics, though unconventional, gave him the farewell tour he deserved. He finished his career having played with some incredible franchises like the Celtics, the Heat and, of course, the Los Angeles Lakers.
