Losers

New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans are one of the most exciting teams in the NBA. With rookie Zion Williamson hoping to lead the team to a playoff berth, they still need more time to rise in the standings. Obviously, if the NBA season is cut short and playoffs begin immediately after the end of the suspension, the Pelicans would be left out. As of now, they are only 3.5 games outside of the playoff picture.

Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers made an appearance in the Western Conference finals just a season ago. Although they have had a very disappointing season, they have the talent to make some noise in the playoffs if they were to make it. Also just 3.5 games behind the Grizzlies for the 8th seed in the West, they will need the NBA regular season to resume and finish out completely to have a shot to do that.

Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are yet another team that has been extremely disappointing this season. Currently sitting in the sixth seed in the East, they would face off against the Boston Celtics in the first round and would not have home-court advantage. Even with all of the disappointment, they are just two games out of being the fourth seed and playing a much more manageable team like the Miami Heat or Indiana Pacers and would also have homecourt advantage. If you are the 76ers, you hope that the regular season will resume as normal and have a shot at home court in the first round of the playoffs.

Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets have the exact same record as the Oklahoma City Thunder, but lose the tiebreaker meaning they are the sixth seed in the West as of now. This means facing the Denver Nuggets in the first round. Houston is also just one game back of the 4th seed and having homecourt advantage of their own against a less threatening team. The Rockets will need just a few more regular season games to have a shot at jumping at least a couple of spots in the Western Conference standings.
