8. Trae Young gets payback against Miami (02/20/20)

When the Atlanta Hawks took on the Heat back in December, they had gone up six with just under a minute left, prompting Trae Young to call an early victory in front of the American Airlines Arena crowd

Turns out, Miami still had something left, eventually sending the game into overtime before winning by 14.

Never one to resist some trash talk, Jimmy Butler made sure to send one into the chest of Young on Instagram, where the sophomore guard had no choice but to own an early celebration gone wrong.

Come their next battle in February, you knew Young would be ready to right his wrong or fail trying. That’s who he’s been since entering the NBA, always one to fuel his engine with the criticism and slights that came his way.

In what ended up a rare five-point win for Atlanta, Young had perhaps the best game of his young career, dropping a career-high 50 points — along with eight assists — by shooting 8-of-15 from distance and 18-of-19 from the free-throw line.

Following the game, Young took to Twitter to make sure Butler got his dues with a direct call out to his fellow All-Star on social media.

Petty? Perhaps. But it’s hard to argue with Young’s methods after waiting for more than two months to earn it.
