The 2019-20 NBA season may have come to an unfortunate halt, but the games we saw still provided plenty of incredible performances by the league’s elite.

It seems like forever ago when the 2019-20 season was supposed to be the best the NBA had seen in a long time.

The league’s competitive balance had been restored with elite talent smoothly spread across the landscape and emerging stars popping up at every turn. There was a level of unpredictability to the season’s outcome that hadn’t been seen in years, one that fostered a heightened level of anticipation for the pending postseason.

That enthusiasm was present even amid the NBA’s preseason hoopla in China. It remained steady as they were beset by tragedy back in January.

The only thing that could bring the excitement to a standstill was a literal standstill of the regular season due to the growing coronavirus pandemic.

Nobody, not even NBA commissioner Adam Silver, knows when basketball will return given the uncharted waters the entire world is engulfed in at the moment. There’s a growing possibility the game might not make its way back until the tip-off of the 2020-21 season.

We’re told not to look back in life, but that’s just about all the sports world has right now while face to face with an uncertain future.

So while quarantines and social distancing take full effect, it’s only right to recall some of the performances from this peculiar shortened season that remind us of the reasons we yearn for the return of the game we all love.
