2. Lamar Odom
For 12 out of his 14 NBA seasons, Lamar Odom played in Los Angeles. Odom began his career with the Clippers before becoming a two-time champion with the Lakers. In between those stints, Odom played one season with the Heat.
Odom was drafted fourth overall by the Clippers in the 1999 draft. The 6-10 forward showed potential but off-the-court issues made him undesirable to the Clippers’ front office, who chose not to match the six-year contract he signed with Miami in the summer of 2003.
At age 24, Odom averaged 17.1 points, 9.7 rebounds (team-high and a career-high at the time) and 4.1 assists, a stat line no other Heat player has ever put up over a whole season. With Odom, 32-year-old former All-Star guard Eddie Jones and All-Rookie First Team member Dwyane Wade, Miami won 42 games and a playoff series. That offseason, Odom, as well as two players and two draft picks, was traded to the Lakers for Shaquille O’Neal.
O’Neal helped Miami become a champion while Odom helped the Lakers win back-to-back championships and won the Sixth Man of the Year award.
