Kevin Love

The most obvious of names that could be moved this summer is Kevin Love, who’s somehow still on the Cleveland Cavaliers. He’s all that’s left of their 2016 championship team, after immediately signing a four-year extension upon LeBron James exit for Los Angeles.

Cleveland, to the surprise of none, has had it rough since James left for the Lakers. They’ve got a 38-109 record over the last season and a half, and have made a home at the bottom of the East.

Love is only 31, and while he’s made his frustrations inappropriately public at times, could still provide a lot for teams looking to compete in the playoffs. In 56 games this season he’s averaging 17.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game.

His impact has meant little for Cleveland, proving he’s no number one option. But then again, Cavaliers’ general manager Koby Altman is likely the only person to ever believe that was an option to begin with. As a complementary piece, however, Love has real value.

What doesn’t have value is his whopping $31 million salary, along with the fact that he played just 22 games last season with a laundry list of health issues. And the one team that would no doubt make a deal for Love, Portland, he has no interest in reportedly.

The one team that makes sense, mostly due to their having nothing to lose, is the Phoenix Suns. They’re about as close to competing among all the bad teams in the NBA, and desperately need to add some talent around franchise face Devin Booker.
